Rapport, matching and mirroring
Rapport is derived from Gallicism rapporter that then in English has been used to create relationship and contact with other individuals. The Rapport is established with the techniques of Matching and Mirroring .
Matching means do what makes the other person, that does not mean aping, otherwise the result would not be to create rapport!
Mirroring means literally to mirror.
The two techniques are sensitive, however, and have the primary purpose of creating affinity, relationship, relationship, harmony, empathy ... certainly not to become good actors or mimics.
Because true matching is done in subtle ways: based on the respiratory rhythm, the mood, the tone of voice, the rhythm of voice (and not the regional accent!). It also does not seek the true mirroring the movement of my right arm when the other person moves his left, of course! But the witness can connect a leg motion interlocutor with a discrete movement of my finger or the like, and thin cross.
Rapport is an art to create natural looking artificial elements if made bold to make matching and mirroring is only a good performance and mimic a bad attempt to build rapport.
